Year, month, day
Year pillar turns at Lichun. Zodiac and bone weight follow the lunar year from New Year’s day. Month pillar follows solar terms, not lunar months. Night Zi after 23:00 uses the next day’s day pillar. Times use Hong Kong.
2Month command & support
Structure follows the birth month’s main qi (month command). The ten god is that month’s commander. Strong/weak body is weighed separately by support vs drain. “In command” means your element is strong or supportive that month. Both stay on the page, not merged. If weak, helpers are Day Master and seal; unfavourable are output, wealth, and officer/kill. If strong, reverse.
3Luck direction
Luck cycles need sex first. Yang year: male forward, female reverse; yin year: male reverse, female forward—by year stem. Favourable / flat / harsh for a decade or year looks only at that stem vs birth month: help, break, or neither. Lifetime score is not pasted onto every year.

- Do I need the birth hour?
- Yes. Without an hour there is no hour pillar—marriage, children, and luck cycles are not charted. From 23:00 to 23:59 choose Night Zi.
- What if sex is not selected?
- Pillars and five elements still chart. Luck-cycle direction needs sex. Marriage timing and whether a partner supports you in the plain reading also need male or female first.
- How is Night Zi counted?
- From 23:00 to 23:59 the day pillar uses the next day; the hour is still Zi. The page states which day the day pillar uses.
- Lichun and lunar New Year differ—what then?
- Year pillar turns at Lichun. Zodiac and bone weight follow the lunar year from the first day of the first month. Between those dates the two can differ; both are shown.
